SW Ont | All DEF is manufactured to the same ISO spec.

Early LML GM pickups had a lot of issues getting the code for 'poor def quality'.
Problem wasn't the DEF. Problem was the NOx sensors in the exhaust.
The computer's logic believed the sensors were still working/calibrated.
DEF is used to reduce NOx in the exhaust. The LML didn't sense DEF quality directly.
When the NOx readings before and after the DEF injection locations didn't drop as much as expected, the logic concluded that the DEF must be at fault.
Real problem was the the sensor(s) were giving the wrong readings. New sensor(s) installed problem goes away.
Might be the same type of issue with the CAT. | |
