My condolences, and good for you trying to track him down to find out.

I did also find out I lost a cousin without knowing anything of her loss for a few years. She had alienated her family over an estate issue and later died without even her brother and sisters knowing, much less cousin's like me. It gave me a reason to always keep some contact and never let the small stuff get in the way.
