swmn | We've converted to all holstein angus cross. There is a big difference in genetics in the crosses. Straight steins at the weight we want are impossible to find. Have one load of steins left for March then first of the crosses go in April.
Definitely like paying $.90-1.00 per pound rather than $1.40+ up front but 125 to a max of 300 mile haul on the finished side compared to 480 miles to Green Bay has its advantages as well.
Health wise I have to give a little advantage to the crosses also | |
