northeastern Ohio | Ran JD balers with pan kickers for years. Then switched to NH with throwers.
JD pan kickers can put more bales in a wagon. But they also more vulnerable to misfires due to groundhog holes and rough fields in general. Seem to require more maintenance too. My wife's grandfather was seriously injured by a kicker when the pan hit him in the head. He survived, but I don't think they ever bought another pan kicker.
The NH throwers are pretty much trouble free. I am having trouble with bearings holding up, but I think that stems from the overall decline in bearing quality across the board.
I prefer the thrower. | |
