| They could also figure out how to spend less, borrow less, work more, payoff and position themselves for a better paying job as well. Kids and parents are getting soft and wanting more things to be handed to them more than ever.
I had 7-8% loans and I’m sure some of you had them higher. I didn’t think college was that terrible to pay for but I worked and had paid internships that certainly helped. I was able to get a good job leaving school and paid for my loans within 6mos.
The biggest college expense comes for grad school- my wife took on about $50k in 2 yrs. I see lots of kids going on to get their grad degrees with no real direction in life although a lot of careers require the masters deg.
I see ads in the paper requiring masters deg for social work with pay rates of 12-13 $/hr. At some point our kids need to figure out the math that this career path doesn’t work out so well financially. | |
