Further memorialized by Don McLean in "American Pie" song.

Before my time and it was/is memorable music for many. In watching or reading about them and that day, one line mentioned stood out to me. "They were famous because they weren't around long enough to be forgotten.". I wondered if they music wasn't special if they hadn't died would their music drifted off into the forgotten like countless other performers.

Was their music great or their legend greater?
