Central IL | I had thought wheat was just along for the price runup ride with beans and corn driving the bus. Read today that Russia recently put a $30.00 per mmt tax on exported wheat to protect their domestic market and are talking of increasing it to $60.00 per mmt. I believe that $60.00 per mmt equates to about $1.50 per bushel and with Russia being the worlds biggest wheat exporter it would seem that the world wheat price would have to be affected.
