Iowa | Know exactly what you mean by being frustrated. Having the free choice hay may be part of the problem. Hunger is an excellent motivator. Sometimes they just have to get hungry enough to figure it out. In our experience, maybe only 1 in 100 will never figure it out. Those we run behind a gate or between a couple other heifers-but that takes 2 people.
I guess my advice would be to get the free choice hay out if you can, & “make” them find the openings. | |
