Nw Iowa | Yes Maine farmer, we call it a hot roof. Quite a few cons. For what it is worth when we built house about 10 years, we hired a foam contractor that was a character but had done a lot of foam in his life, ( maybe too much) but we did take his advice and have been happy. He suggested open cell on main floor to completely fill 5 1/2 “ cavities, this made house more soundproof , so this foam was all knifed or bladed so it was flush with outside of studs. He did a 1” skim coat on floor of attic over ceiling Sheetrock with plastic thermal barrier. Than used closed cell on rim juice and in basement with 4”walls framed inside a poured basement. We have a fair amount of glass to lake but faces east and went with triple pane windows but know we are losing r value in windows. Wind has to get pretty wild to know there is a weather event and hard to hear a rain. | |
