You can connect a computer to the nanobeam via CAT5 as long as you have a power injector too so that you can power the nanobeam over the CAT5. The connection would look like:
Computer - CAT5 - power injector - CAT5 - nanobeam.
You may or may not need a cross over cable on the computer side, depending on if the computer is smart enough to do that automatically or not. Or just plug the computer and power injector into a switch.
