Subject: RE: Feeding a set of 400s

Eastern NE KS
Last 3 groups have had Bovatec at cocci rate on day one. This takes a little work because my custom feed mix amount has the right concentration of Bovatec when eating 7 lbs of mix. So I have to mix in more when calves a eating less. They also get praire hay free choice. When I get to 5# of mix I stop adding Bovatec. So rate drops a little.

I like this option because:

Ruminsen label limits drug to 100mg for first five days. Deccox should fill this gap but with just 1 try I reverted back to amprolium to stop cocci. Ruminsen and amprolium for enough days to get to cocci rate on Ruminsen worked for me. It was a little more expensive than my Bovatec option.

Amprolium is pricey and for me I can't get off of it when used by itself. Any stressor without a cocci drug and I have troubles until 60-70 days weaned.
