NW IL | I am mostly a hay and row crop guy but feed a few cattle occasionally. Made the decision to feed a pen this winter as we'll likely be under virus lockdown, might as well.
I made some baleage out of a field that got rained on, so the selling value is low around here, but feed value should be good. 2nd cut alfalfa. Cattle seem to like it. Nice sweet smell when I cut the plastic and feed it. I am feeding a few pounds per head of shell corn mixed with purina steakmaker 36-0 B500. It has the bovatec.
What else should I add to the mix to keep them right. I have had problems with coccidia in the past but bovatec should handle that? I also have a couple with a slight cough, would like to put in some crumbles to zap that.
I suppose I need a VFD for decox/AS700 crumbles? Or something else better?
I'm not gonna win feeder of the year, just looking to be 90% there and make some baleage disappear. | |
