BOGTROTTER - 11/22/2020 18:03

I have been the inspector on quite a few emergency stabilization projects on river dikes where we used "urban rip-rap" at the rate of 50 to 75 tons per hour, 8 hours a day and 5 days a week for a month. DNR was in on the project and their only concern was no paint on the concrete (suspected to be lead based) and reinforcing steel (required tails to be cut flush to the concrete). The farmers who were the contractors on a dike system they initiated, built and maintained from the Civil war era to present day, maintained a stock pile of material in their yards so that they could respond quickly. They were close enough to the docks along the Saginaw River to buy quarried limestone rip-rap of any dimension but used recycled concrete as it was cheaper.

You need to take a look at the $ they are throwing in Lake Huron S of Port Sanilac

State can't afford the used concrete
large stones only

Bank last spring was like 25 feet from the M-25 road surface

then the dirt backfill they spent 3 times what they could have for it

Just the things that go on when they are sending tax money
