Subject: RE: RFID tag readers

NS Canada
I use a gallagher TSI - One of the top of the line, But the only thing I input chute side is an ear tag number.

I put in an RFID tag, wave the wand over it and that reads its weight, go to TSI screen and click 'change tag' and type in its regular tag number and then its matched to that RFID number, then onto the next animal I only have an older wand though (HR3) with a small screen to view the rfid number (hard to see). Their new HR5 has a large screen and key pad that you can type in info right on the wand.

Big fines up here if caught transporting without RFID tags in, although no one really checking for them around this area. Sometimes I get a call to go read an eartag for someone else, and the screen is readable enough to get the job done, but otherwise I have no reason to read the screen on the wand - I can get all the info I need off the TSI computer for what I do.

Everyone has to use RFID up here, but not many people have readers and scale side computers, mainly just the bigger guys that have accepted it's part of the system now.
