West of Lincoln a little bit | One of the local elevator guys once told me that he had a farmer who would sell every single Monday, same amount each time. He felt like that farmer's averages were at least as good or better than the ones who tried so hard to time the market.
It wouldn't be that hard to pull up historical prices and run some simulations on a spreadsheet to see if any of those averaging methods would work. Time consuming though.
It used to be that spring sales were typically the best, but this year certainly blew that to heck (and I'm still annoyed about it). I am wondering if the typical cycles are changing now with SA growing cycles having more and more influence on the markets.
After this year I honestly have no idea what to do anymore. No matter what I pick it feels like I get it wrong. Gunning for the worlds worst farm marketer awards at this point. |
