Well, I still support my family with my day job, most of the income the farm generates goes back into the farm in extra principle payments on farms.
I guess my wife does draw a small salary from the farm.
Good for you, if that’s what it takes then more power to you.
My family was much the same, I had a day job for 30 some years as did my wife except when the kids where small. Between the day job, livestock and grain farming I missed out on a lot but it was worth it. Now that we are retired from the town jobs and I have gotten out of the livestock just running the grain side seems like I being lazy. Thinking of taking on a part time job.
Success to me is leaving the next generation in a better place than you were given. That can mean anything from having a huge corporation to owning a home, having a good education or just having both parents in the family. Keep moving the ball forward, build on what’s there. |
