Killing the AM/ FM radio is a an inconvenience ! We had a situation in which keying the two way mic wiped the the settings and calibrations off the SmartBox insecticide controller. IIRC , we recalibrated about 6 or 7 times in the field before going to a “ radio silence” rule.
