| Here are my experiences with various systems in south central Ontario We've had in this order ... oil forced air, wood stove / electric baseboard combo, air to air heat pump with electric furnace combo, stand-a-lone propane stove and now ultra high efficiency nat gas forced air.
I know there have been improvements made over the years but there's no chance I'd go back to an air to air heat pump, easily the least comfortable heating system I've experienced. They will heat at fairly low temperatures but the house always feels like a cold draft is blowing once the outdoor temp falls below 35F or so. The forced air stream just plain feels cold.
Propane would be a much better choice in terms of comfort, that said I would make double sure the unit could be converted to nat gas in future. | |
