Subject: RE: garage storage/shelving

Manola,Ab, Ca
I built these in our garage this summer for my wife’s stockpile and home caning storage. The units to the left is supported off the wall studs using 2x4s. The shelving is 3/4” birch plywood. The unit on the right is self supported but is fastened to the wall and the first unit. It is also 3/4” birch.
If I recall correctly there is a total of three sheets of plywood in the two units. Total material cost is probably less than $250 Canadian dollars. Took me a couple of afternoons to construct. Probably overbuilt but there is nothing worse than a loaded shelf or rack collapsing.

Edit to add that in the picture the unit on the right is not complete. I added an 1-1/2” strip of plywood to the front of each shelf to help retain stored items. The shelf supports on the right hand unit are strips of plywood screwed to the upright panels. If you have any questions regarding construction details, please ask and I will try to answer.
