I thought the most economical source of H was catalytic (red hot iron) cracking of steam. Some how gasification of cobs seems a hard way to get there.

I don't think the organic movement would accept H from wind power and N from the air because it still took a chemical reaction to make them into NH3. And they can get hurt handling NH3 with their bare hands.
