Central Nebraska | Bern - 9/29/2020 19:03 My local machinist, someone who I trust greatly and who has been in the business many years, reports to me that Cummins is having some trouble with liners sinking on their post-2010 15L engines, at least from his vantage point. A lot of "blown head gasket" issues eventually lead to liner removal and block counterbore cutting to get the liner protrusion back up where it needs to be.
Rawze.com has a lot of information on this and the ISX in general. The way I understand it the liner problem has to do with the torque curve and low RPM operating ranges. The recommendation is to set the liners at .14 when doing an in-frame. For the record......I sound like I know a lot more about this than I really do! |
