Does machinery really count as equity?

Doesn't take long for that 1/4 or 1/2 million dollar toy to turn into 50k, and God forbid you blow up the 70k engine.

I call it equity when you buy the 50K toy (in your example) and make it last rather then the 1/4 or 1/2 million dollar one. If your lucky to find a good machine and maintain it after, you can build equity in equipment within reason. A lot of my equipment doesn’t loose a lot of value but does need some parts here and there. A lot of new equipment needs parts too, so I feel I’m doing good in the long run. Maybe I look at things wrong?
