| Most recent studies on COVID-19 dominate web searches such that it's harder to dig into earlier studies. I did a quick search on prevention of respiratory viral diseases and found a lot of papers around SARS and MERS. Within my search I found a 2015 review paper which cites relevant references to their review..... here's that review .... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7151770/ . Within the referenced papers there was a 2003 peer reviewed Hong Kong study that discusses simple preventative measures that are effect with respiratory virus SARS.... article found here ..... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7112437/ . This is just one example but I'm sure there are others if one is willing to dig back in time. One interesting thing about the 2015 review paper it pretty much outlines the science you see discussed for COVID-19 before we were hit with COVID-19. All the knowns and unknowns with previous respiratory viral infections seems to be playing out all over again. My personal opinion is that the 2015 review paper is an interesting read. | |
