The theory is the virus is in water droplets and vapors that are large enough to be filtered. As with all things health, remember this... They are only practicing medicine. They don't have it perfect.

And if you wore a clean n95 type mask for a couple minutes and then disposed of it. Then pulled out a new clean mask for the next close encounter for a couple minutes, it might be a legitimate way to slow down a viral infection, but not stop it. Wearing a n95 all day is a whole mother situation. Once that mask gets saturated with all these >.3 micron droplets from your breath and that moisture migrates to the outside of the mask, the .15 micron virus migrates too. Then as you breath out you are "catching" new big droplets but also aerosolizing the moisture/virus on the outside of the mask just you are not wearing anything at all. So you have people running around like normal because they think they are protected by a mask vs if you didn't wear a mask your more like to be more aware and more careful. Neither wearing a mask long term or not wearing at all will prevent a virus. But I think a true understanding of reality goes farther in reducing the spread than ignorance walking everywhere with a mask. Then a cloth mask is an even bigger example of ignorance. |
