Why I love this site. Never knew rhubarb pie, cake etc was a real thing! Read about it in books and such and always have known the word but never really investigated since it’s not something I’ve ever seen here. Just last week my 7yr old was reading a Hank the Cow Dog book and asked me what rhubarb pie was and I said I thought it was a fake pie in stories! Now I’m interested in trying it if I can find any. What’s it similar to? Is it sweet or tart? Maybe I just haven’t met a cake I don’t like yet?

Oh rhubarb is different for sure.

It is very tart. You will use more sugar in a rhubarb-apple pie than you would in a plain apple pie.

Here we only pick it in May and June. You may not have any luck finding it at this time of year.
