I have a mower that has had ethanol in it everyday for decades, no precautions over winter, never had a fuel related problem.
Got a newish mower from dad's estate and that thing will not run worth a crap on E-10. Regular and then it's fine.
I always believed it was BS until I got this new mower.
The problem with the newer mower is likely because of emissions. They are set up to run so lean that you have to use a higher octane. I have a Honda compressor that would die every time it tried to rev up unless the choke was 1/2 on. I put in 92 octane and it fixed the problem. I then tried to adjust the low jet but there was stops on it due to emissions regs. So I broke it off and ordered a regular jet screw. Put that in and now it rus perfect on 87 octane E10. |
