Odd pocket,Illinois
Nice to find someone that knows what I'm talking about and not just assume I'm blowing smoke. We had to replant some of the early planted corn this year due to a couple toad stranglers and cold weather we had at the end of April, but I haven't been in that yet to check yields. Like you, most years the river goes down quick and it's really never a problem the rest of the year, but these last couple years it has come up in early spring and just hangs high for so long that by the time it goes down it's too late to get the low ground planted again. As far as the seep water messing up the soil, I can't really answer that one, but the com that is planted on some of last years pp acres hasn't looked right all year.
