Northeast Iowa | The DK ears were much lighter with probably "typical" kernel depth. The P ones were naturally heavy and full of water, they hadn't black-layered yet. If I had to guess, the DKC will be between 90 and 100k kernels/bushel and the Pioneer will be 90 or below. They just appear to just be much better.
The silver lining in this situation looks like I won't have pay much commerical drying on half this field or any of my other DK fields this year, whereas I know my Pioneer ones rarely seem to get below 18% in the field. I can almost expect $30-$40/acre of commercial drying in my Pioneer hybrids. I might have $10 in the Dekalb, they seem to have superior drydown.
I should have read the other thread posted a few days ago. Sounds like this particular one hybrid is having a tough go elsewhere this year. | |
