Central Alberta | Horses originated in North America. They crossed over into Asia over the Bering land bridge and thrived over there. Here in North America we got the large cats from Asia which spelled the end of horses in North America until the Spanish brought them over from Europe on boats.
Some paleontologists have speculated that some horses survived in North America after the ice age, but the lack of fossil evidence makes that theory seem very unlikely. | |
