Been walking corn fields trying to figure out yield... planted 36k and I’ve ended up with 35k ... in 17.5’ in 30” rows I’m finding 2-3 ears that are about half size and I’m beginning to wonder if it’s the refuge... ears are the same height on stalks as the rest and the plants are same height so that tells me they weren’t late emerged plants... corn has looked even all year long although we were on the dry side during pollination... this is strip till on 30” rows ... what am I missing?

Dig a few of the smaller ones up. If you are lucky, the color of the seed coating will still be visible. Then you will know for sure.

Take care
