Central Illinois
Early eighties, planting alternating strips of corn and beans was a fad. I remember the benefit of corn was having the “outside “ rows catching more sunlit producing higher yields. I’ve forgotten the benefit (if any) for beans. As I recall, Farm Journal even had an article about it.
