IH has an upgrade on the bearings, similiar to their new disks, which I would definitely get. As someone else said, the factory bearings go out regularly. They did not have the upgrade when we did ours, so we used bearings from a JD 230. It required a minor amount of grinding the flangette to fit. We haven't changed a bearing since. (That was when all JD bearings were made in the USA.)
