Big believer in harvesting wet. We start at 30%. Slow drying first couple days but get things working and get down a nice dry base for a few bins. It's under 25 before you know it. Extra heat in september helps pay for lots of gas versus november drying.
Besides the other yield loss factors guys mentioned, when the plant dies, it starts to release carbon. That's weight up into the air besides the known moisture loss.
