Subject: RE: Shipping frozen beef

Northeast Iowa
Mississippi Welder Supply sells dry ice. I've taken that and put in styrofoam containers (10 lbs of dry ice and maybe 65 pounds of beef) and sent it three-day UPS to Boston. Cheaper than Next Day and it still arrives frozen. UPS liked to charge for hazmat fee if they knew there was dry ice included. I think it was $50 or so for the hazmat fee.

Friend from California who worked in the midwest always wanted to ship some beef home to her dad. Overnight delivery meant FedEx got more for handling it than I did for raising it, so we never got it done for him. Sent some to another friend in California using the three-day UPS option as a trial. UPS discovered the box had been "damaged" during shipping, so they refused to deliver it. Guessing it got X-rayed and went home with staff.

Almost cheaper to put a retired guy in a Prius and have him deliver it in person.
