NW Indiana | I really don’t think we could ask for better weather overall. Only complaints are the cold weather we had after planting caused some stand issues and we were a touch hot when the early corn started to pollinate. Was dry in June so things rooted down and now we are cool going into grain fill and have plenty of water. We did have some replant but it looks great. I’m not sure we’ll have a farm record on corn but it will be close. Only thing holding us back will be some questionable stands we left on a few fields. On beans like always I have no clue. We planted the earliest we ever have which should equal more nodes and more pods. But who knows. Any beans planted before April 20th are short which I’m ok with as long as they load up with pods. I can get a good educated guess on corn yields but the only way to guess soybean yield is to run the combine through them. | |
