Subject: AgLeader and Rawson Drive issue

Arco MN
Have a Neighbor that asked me to help him with his planter.
Its a 16-31 Kinze
It has the Stepper motor Module on it with a Par 2 Rawson drive on each end of the planter where the transmissions are.
THey are fed by the powerbeyond of a JD 4650.
He says the left side will run fine and nice and smooth but the right side will start to jump and surge.
Whats the problem?
He also said he had the Drives rebuilt, and the tractor checked out and all should be good.
My thought is to ditch the Rawsons and go with a PWM drive and Hydraulic drive module.
Would that work better? I have 2 drives sitting here and we used to use one on our old planter and it just worked well all the time.
What are others thoughts?
Before we spend much money
I want to Put some gages on the pressure side of each drive and see what the pressure does when the issue is happening.
I think we can make this happen standing still with simulated speed.
Any other ideas?
