I have it set to regenerate more than it used to, once a week (every 1,000 gallons maybe?) I do use iron out when I add salt also. I should say the water only gets a tint of red when we use too much at one time or when we haven't had rain in a long time. I don't know if there's a strata of rusty water in my well casing or what.
