Epoxy is a no no for any hot work. They recommend to grind the surface some for it to have something to bite to for adherence.
Personally I would have burnished it real good with a power trowel but I see it’s a little late. You could have done that and sealed it. Oil may stain some but it would wipe up and broom off nice with a tight surface.
