This is something that lots of folks from back east don't understand. It can take hours to get between points of interest in states like Wyoming and Montana at 75 or 80 MPH.

eg, to go from Devil's Tower to Cody is about 5+ hours. 

Edit: I agree about Jackson. It's a horrible cancer upon our state. It looks as tho a bunch of yuppies transplanted themselves and their dubious architecture from Palo Alto, California, to Wyoming.
