Have migrated to 235/80R16 14 ply on my tandem dually flatbed, and the same on the stock trailer. The last one to fail was a 12 ply and it had several years' age on it. That said, if I was buying a new trailer and had the choice, the 17.5" rims would be the ticket to ride.
