My taxes go to the "public" school, even though my kids don't.
Property tax, yes. Federal funding (and State funding) formulas are based on a per student basis. I was home schooled for most of my k-12 years. Local HS was delighted for me to take a half day of classes as it brought them more state and federal funding.
