Is the taxpayers "cheap food" really cheap? If you add in all their tax money paid in to fund all the programs mentioned above the food might get pretty expensive. If the taxpayers really knew how many rich farmers they are subsidizing they would be up in arms.
Then we get to hear all the complaing about farmers aren't making any money. Pathetic.

Ron what u posted is so true, IDK any way one can justify some of the monies sent to Farmers who really just use it to get bigger, pay more rent, ect. and many are not millionaires ,but today have $10-20+ mil. in net assets....... A lot of programs by gov't aimed at 'saving the family farm' actually just supports the biggest farms to squeeze the younger, smaller, starting farmer out.....Be it Canadian or American farms,we are far from being a free mkt. capitalistic business.....Our latest program with covid 19 is pretty much anybody farming can get a $40k loan for a few yrs. interest free and if u pay back $30k ,u keep the other $10k.....might as well just sent all farmers a envelope of cash...whole application takes 1 minute and 3 sentences
