You should be aware that my research indicates Google compresses images stored in Google Photo. Users of a dpreview forum have indicated that images are resized and compressed. An extreme example was given by a user that found an image he stored that was originally a 24 MB RAW image when he downloaded back to his computer was compressed to 1.4 MB and resized. If memory serves all images seem to be resized to 12 Mpixels. 12Mpixels should work well for pictures taken with most phones but the sensors in most current digital cameras will be resized.

DP Review users seemed impressed with Googles compression but one should be aware that each time an image is compressed, data in the original image is lost.
