While that's generally true that droughts start the previous year, 1980 and 1983 did not.


wet spring 1983. Plenty of moisture. Got hot and dry in July and corn burnt up in 3 days with moisture. Winds 20 plus, humidity down to 10-12% and 3 days 102 - 104 degrees. North central Missouri. Day 1 - dark green - Day 2 - pale green - Day 3 - white.
