When you get it producing well again with probably new crowns,maybe a more vigorous one,you can cut for 60 days straight.Then leave it be,thats all with moisture fertility age of bed etc. 3 years old then start cutting .I think you could help out yurs with fertility and perhaps a little trickle if its really dry there but it has deep roots so ...may just be a bit under fertile or a disease .
