What brand of sprayer?  Does your rate drop also?    I'm guessing that it does since flow through a given tip size is a function of pressure.

How are your boom valves plumbed?     When you turn the boom off is the valve shut (nothing going through it) or do you have valves that divert the flow back to the tank?

If you're not sure take a few pictures of the plumbing and post them.
