Floor drains in garages and shops here must go to daylight. Just think about the potential problems running sand and grease into a septic. And if you should ever have a fuel leak in the shop would you want that in a septic system, or even just a barrel underground? Nothing short of a bomb, plus the ground water contamination it would cause.
