| Already did- 7 plots last year at 4, 5, and 6 mph. The overall average was 6 bushels better for 4 mph than 6 mph. The average $loss predicted by the 20/20 for those plots was $4.36 at 4 mph, $7.99 at 5 mph, and $18.47 at 6 mph, so the correlation to yield seems reasonable to me. However the problem is in balancing whether you are going to make more money planting more acres before you get rained out than you will by getting a nicer stand on less acres by going slow.... Maybe the real lesson is that you could justify paying for a lot of a bigger planter to accomplish both if there is $20 an acre to be gained from it. I too would like to see some other people do this, real numbers from real fields would be alot better proof than shiny ads in a magazine! | |
