Subject: RE: Lift Stations

Scottville, 49454 Northwest Michigan

One positive is... with a lift pump you will always have "freeboard".   Meaning.... your tile outlets will never be underwater.  That is a benefit.

Negatives are rather obvious.  Cost of equipment, eventual maintenance, and electricity cost.

We have installed four lift stations.  We wouldn't be without them.  We certainly don't enjoy the extra cost they require.  But the acreage they are serving wouldn't have tile drainage without them.  So no regrets with their investment.

Below is the company we buy our pumps from.  Very professional.  Very knowledgeable about proper design of a system.  And they sell a very good quality pump.  Before we were put in touch with them, we had bought different pumps that eventually needed repairs.  Since buying their pumps, we have never needed to service any of our lift pumps.
