Subject: Rebuilding a hayrack question

NC Iowa
Have a JD 1065 running gear that has a 12 foot span. I am planning on building an 8x16' deck with 2x8" treated pine and with 2x10" treated pine as my stringers. Will 2 sandwiched 2x10's standing vertical be strong enough or do I need 3 to give me a stringer width of 4.5" ?

Also, planning on building a 10x20' deck on a different running gear to carry round bales. Wondering if 4 sandwiched 2x10's is overkill?

*** The lumber came from a local lumberyard, not that cheap garbage from Menards.
